FUMC Ministry
There are many ministry opportunities at First United Methodist Church. They include, but are not limited to:
Shut In Ministry
The response has been overwhelming! Thank you to all who have responded to our new “Shut-In” Ministry. We now have about 3 dozen people who are calling on members of our church family who want to receive a visit. You are a wonderful testimony of serving Him by caring for others.
Errand Ministry
If you are too sick to get medicine, if you are elderly and need help getting groceries, if you have no friends or family to help-Let the ERRAND MINISTRY HELP YOU!
Those needing services and those willing to serve can contact Sheri at 225-8755. Over 35 errands by only 6 volunteers in 2007!
Meals Ministry
The Meals Ministry provided 48 meals in 2010 with the help of 58 volunteers. This ministry has provided meals since it started in May 2004. It’s great to know we’ve touched so many lives! Thank you to Sheri, Linda and Samarade, and all who participated in the cooking, delivering, and support of this ministry.
Prayer Ministry
Jesus said, " My house will be called a house of prayer." (Matthew 21:13). In our desire to become that House of Prayer at FUMC, we have in place several prayer chains. If you wish to add a prayer request or would like to be a part of a prayer chain, please contact Grace or the church office to be part of this ministry.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Do you know of someone who is discouraged, sick, or hurting in some way? Prayer shawls are available in the Prayer Chapel for you to pick up and give to that person. Simply take the prayer shawl, fill out the card regarding the recipient of the shawl, and leave that card in the church office. Then, take the prayer shawl to that person. Take time to pray with the person when you give it to him/her.
Prayer Shawls Needed
The prayer shawl ministry has been so well received here at FUMC that we have run out of prayer shawls to give away. If you knit or crochet, would you please consider making a prayer shawl? Directions can be found in the church office or on the table by the door at the MOC. You can also call Grace Graf for any information you need about making a prayer shawl. THANKS to everyone who has been sharing these with those who are sick or hurting. We have been hearing very good reports about how comforting it is to get one of these shawls.
